Mother and child unit, Victor Provo Hospital, Roubaix
Medical layout at the Maternity Hospital of Victor Provo
In 2017, after several years of work, the new maternity unit at Victor Provo Hospital in Roubaix opened its doors. The project design teams worked in close collaboration with healthcare professionals. This was done in order to design a modern building, a place of well-being and comfort, integrated into a global environmental approach.
The 13,000 sq. metre Woman-Mother-Child unit is separate from the hospital. However, it remains directly linked to the operating theatres and anaesthetic and post-interventional monitoring facilities at the Hospital Centre. The maternity unit has 92 beds for obstetrics, gynaecology and neonatal care, with 35 beds for intensive care.
The single and double rooms have been equipped with changing tables and baths to enable parents to bathe their babies in the rooms. The changing unit can be fitted with a baby scale in the first drawer to provide full ergonomics for the care teams. The drawer can be locked. A cupboard adjoining the changing table has been made to measure.
Tailor-made nappy changing units have been installed in the nurseries to optimise the layout, and benches have been installed in the delivery rooms.
